Fran's Friday Five

This week I have been liking...

The new Moulton Safari is here!

The prototype of the eagerly anticipated Moulton New Series Safari has arrived at the shop.

The Safari is the first Moulton to use the Campagnolo Ekar groupset and the first to feature disc brakes on the front and rear wheels and thru-axles. Whilst it looks like existing NS bikes, the Safari’s geometry is significantly changed to cater for the different loads of disc brakes and for gravel riding. It is still easily and quickly separable due to the ingenious loss-less hydraulic connector and is the lightest separable New Series bike.

Production will be starting soon and I still have one of our initial order of 4 bikes still available to reserve. Call or email if you would like to view, test ride, or order.

Moulton TSR/SST/XTB carriers in Silver Chrome

Silver Chrome is the new colour for Moulton TSR, SST and XTB carriers for 2024.

The Rear Day Carrier, Rear Touring Carrier, Front Pannier Carrier and Front Platform Carrier* for the Moulton TSR, SST and XTB are now only available in Silver Chrome or Black. Both colours in all four carriers will usually be in stock and ready to ship on our website.

*The Front Platform Carrier can still be ordered in Steely Grey or Camel Yellow for the XTB.

Topeak Road Morph pump

When I go out on a ride I always make sure I have my Topeak Road Morph pump with me (unless I forget to bring it and immediately get a puncture as our regular Shop Social Ride riders will confirm).

This lightweight road frame pump morphs into a mini floor pump and is perfect for quickly getting a decent amount of pressure into your tube when that puncture hits, as it invariably will, in the pouring rain.

Homing In podcast by Matt Gibberd and The Modern House

One of my current favourite listens - the podcast equivalent of being wrapped in a blanket, sitting in a comfortable armchair, in front of an open fire. The Modern House co-founder and author Matt Gibberd talks to cultural and creative leaders about the most influential space in their lives: home. He asks guests to talk about a home of their past; their current living space; and where they would like to end up.

Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro

My first book completed since starting my 20 pages reading effort (see my last blog post). Kazuo Ishiguro imagines the lives of a group of students growing up in a darkly skewered version of contemporary England. This is one of those books that you think about for weeks after you’ve read it.

“A page-turner and a heartbreaker, a tour de force of knotted tension and buried anguish.” ― Time
